Centennial Committee


On April 1st 2004 the Chancellery Commission appointed a committee to decide how to celebrate the centennial and coordinate events.

The committee includes Speaker Paavo Lipponen (chairman), First Deputy Speaker Sirkka-Liisa Anttila, Second Deputy Speaker Ilkka Kanerva, MPs Timo Kalli, Jouni Backman, Jyri Häkämies, Martti Korhonen, Heidi Hautala, Christina Gestrin, Sari Essayah and Raimo Vistbacka, Secretary General Seppo Tiitinen and Director of Legislation Keijo Koivukangas (secretary).

The work of the Jubilee Committee ended with the parliamentary election of March 2007.

The Chancellery Commission also appointed a working group to prepare matters for the Centennial Committee and see that its decisions are implemented. In addition the working group is responsible for arranging various occasions and taking care of cooperation with partners.

The working group includes Secretary General Seppo Tiitinen (chairman), Permanent Under-Secretary Heikki Aaltonen (Prime Minister's Office), Under-Secretary Hannu Himanen (Ministry for Foreign Affairs), Senior Counsellor Johannes Bäckström, Counsellor Jouni Vainio, Deputy Secretary General Jarmo Vuorinen, Administrative Director Kari T. Ahonen, Director of Legislation Keijo Koivukangas, Head of the International Department Katriina Kuusinen, docent Tuula H. Laaksovirta, Head of Information Marjo Timonen, project manager Pentti Väänänen and Parliamentary Secretary Maija-Leena Paavola (secretary).
