Final Report of the Parliamentary Assessment Group was given to Minister of Defence Carl Haglund
The parliamentary assessment group that assessed Finland’s long-term defence challenges gave its final report to Minister of Defence Carl Haglund on October 1st. The key conclusion of the group is that the additional financing, at minimum, which the defence establishment proposed in the Government’s 2012 security and defence policy report is needed to rectify the shortcomings in material capabilities. Speaker of Latvian Parliament Visits Eduskunta
The Speaker of Parliament Eero Heinäluoma welcomed on Tuesday June 17th his fellow speaker Ms. Solvita Aboltina from the Saeima, Parliament of Latvia. The Latvian delegation travelled to Finland on the invitation of Heinäluoma. During her visit at Eduskunta, the parliament of Finland Ms. Aboltina discussed current topics with Speaker Heinäluoma and other Finnish politicians.
