Swedish Parliamentary Group

Swedish Parliamentary Group The Swedish Parliamentary Group
The Swedish Parliamentary Group comprises the Representatives from the Swedish People’s Party in Finland and the constituency of Åland. The Group has 9 members and is chaired by Ulla-Maj Wideroos. Her deputies are Mats Nylund and Mikaela Nylander. It has operated under the same name since the first Eduskunta elections in 1907.

The Group pursues a liberal, bourgeois policy, through which we want to offer all citizens a secure childhood, a valuable education, a rewarding life at work and a dignified old age.

The Group gathers in its conference room on the fifth floor at 14.30 every Thursday.

The Swedish People’s Party has served in 46 of the 69 governments in the history of the Republic of Finland. Only one party has served in more.

We want:

your child to be able to go to a school and kindergarten where its own language is the medium; your grandparents to receive high-quality health services and care for the aged through the medium of their own mother tongue; everyone to have a job to go to; companies to be able to operate in conditions that improve their ability to hire additional employees; you to be able to spend more time with your child without this threatening your career prospects; you and your family to be able to live and work also in a rural area; you still to be able to swim in the Baltic in 20 years’ time; Finland to go over to using more renewable energy; you to be able to feel at home and safe in Finland irrespective of the colour of your skin, whether you are a man or a woman, gay or deaf; Finland to shoulder her international responsibility in the form of increased funding for development aid and crisis management and by working for greater openness in international organisations.
