In 2007 the Social Democratic Parliamentary Groups turns one hundred years. During its history the social democrats have centrally influenced the birth of the Finnish welfare state. In Parliament this has meant enacting legislation, among other things on health care, child benefit, national pensions, equality, education and terms of employment.

Our common well-being shall be secured also in the future and in the midst of a changing world and changing operating environment. The social democrats base their work onto their deep experience of the Finnish society and their global perspective. Social democracy has since its birth been a truly international movement. The strivings of the people who support workers' and leftist views are common around the world.
